Voted "Best Opera Singer in the Bay, 2022" by San Francisco Classical Voice ( Read More: HERE) Canadian Lyric Coloratura soprano, Nikki Einfeld, has been widely recognized for her “high flying virtuosity” (New York Times) as well as her “blazing intensity and ferocious artistry” (San Francisco Chronicle).
A highly adept interpreter of a wide range of repertoire Nikki performs regularly on the operatic, concert and recital stage. Highlights of her recent operatic engagements include appearances with Calgary Opera as Gilda in Rigoletto, with West Edge Opera as Flavia Gemmira in Cavalli's Eliogabalo and the honor of portraying Ruth Bader Ginsberg in Derrick Wang's Opera Scalia Ginsberg. Within standard opera repertoire she has performed roles such as the Controller in Jonathan Dove’s Flight, Diana in The Chastity Tree, Curley’s Wife in Carlisle Floyd’s Of Mice and Men. Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro; Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, Rosina in The Barber of Seville, Marie in The Daughter of the Regiment the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Ophelia in Hamlet and many more. A champion of contemporary works, opera premieres in the past few years have included Christopher Stark’s From the Field (performed and directed) as Dorethea Lang, Allen Shearer’s Howard’s End America as Margaret, Aleksandra Vrebalov’s Abraham In Flames as Fear and Doubt and the title role in Death with Interruptions by Kurt Rohde.
On the recital and concert stage Nikki makes regular appearances with the San Francisco Symphony, most recently as a soloist in Carmina Burana and L’Enfant et les Sortilleges. Other recent appearances include Marin Symphony, Valley of the Moon Music Festival, Merced Symphony, The Wunch New Music Festival in Kansas, Victoria Symphony, Earplay and the Empyrean Ensemble.
A member of the Left Coast Chamber Ensemble her combined love for the concert stage and the pairing of new works with traditional masterpieces has already been prosperous. Collaborations have already yielded several SFCV Best of the Bay nominations and wins for Chamber Music Performances. The 22/23 Season will feature two World premieres Chamber Opera performances in a double bill that Nikki will both direct and perfom.
In addition to performing Nikki maintains an active voice and coaching studio where she also combines her long love of neuroscience and psychology in one on one lessons, group coaching and masterclasses. Currently fulfilling her Master's in Clinical Psychology she is working to expand her current voice focused studio to the broader performance community to help navigate the challenges of both career personal stressors. Nikki is a former Adler Fellow and Merola Alumnus with the San Francisco Opera, and also received acclaim as a Grand Finalist in the 2006 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions.
